Thanda Island

The system installed is designed to offer a completely off-grid solution that runs the Island continuously charging the battery in full during the day, maintaining the load through the night and charging up to full the next day (assuming a sunny day). In the event of inclement weather the Generator will automatically start at a predetermined “Battery State of Charge”, powering the load as well as keeping the batteries charged above a predetermined level.

Thanda Island currently runs off of  a 250kVA Kehua Tech Inverter based BESS System linked to 0.820MWh SolarMD Modular Lithium Ion Battery and 226.8kWp of Canadian Solar Panels. 58% of the Solar Panels are positioned at the Helipad area, following the same pitch and orientation as the original installation, and 42% of the panels are installed in the center of the island near the network tower in an East West Configuration to maximize the Summer Sun which goes into a southern facing angle in the peak summer months. The system has been designed for future growth, positioning both the inverters and the batteries in such a way that the system can be doubled in storage and yield capacity in future if the need arises.
